    Hi there:

I already called you seeking info about your music school - I left a message about one year ago- with any kind of answer. So I went to Brazil and spent a year there playing batucadas and then I went again to Europe.

May you now inform me if there’s the possibility of spend some time learning from you, in any of the courses i’ve seen to happen.

    Thank you and respect

Hallo dear Idol! In 1979 when I started playing with my brothers Dire Straits, I thought I would only like to play such music. I comes very different, founding deepness travelling arount in the whole world. But founding DCD music was the very charismatic and mistic travel to my soul. Nowone reachedm my soul ever so deep. I go to work with DCD in my ear and I go to beed. It is since 1990 that I can’t be without your compositions and lyrics. I thank you and Good that there is such fortunate possibility for my live to listen such ispiratet profound words……
What will you do Brendan in future, when soooo many people wait ansious of your next work….so many people wait for a next sign of you Brendan!!!!! As long as the Earth turns around you will keep on giving “sense” with your music:

….. apart of holyness of THE UNKNOWN GOOD, it is the SECRET wich keeps the things alive and also I find that his only “name” is: SENSE!

Thank you also for giving me sense in my live!!!

  13. Eraldo Bernocchi

    Hi Brendan,

this is Eraldo Bernocchi from Italy. While I wait for myspace friend request to be approved (if), i’ll write you here.

It’s a long time I was thiking to write you…actually since I met you
20 years ago at Cadmen Palace right after a DCD concert.

Since then a lot of changes went through in my musical career.
I actually have no idea if you know my name or you ever heard some
of my releases, the latest ones with Harold Budd and other artists.

I just felt the need to write you (now, that your page is mantained directly by you…I’m a kind of shy guy, don’t like to share feelings with people not directly involved). I felt the need to contact you, hoping in a reply from your side, to get in touch and see if at one point along the lines we could meet and maybe think about something.

It would be so delightful having your voice on some tracks, or even think about something new together.

If DCD deeply influenced me, and still are a pleasure to listen, “Eye of the Hunter” went more far leaving a deep mark in my heart as well giving me another musical perspective that lead to a project like Parched. (i’ll send you the album)

Well, I don’t want to bother you with all this Brendan.
I just wanted to get in touch with you, hopefully I’ll read you soon.

Till then, all my deep respect.

    yours

    Eraldo

  14. Mariusz Wisniewski

    Hi!

Utopia, is this song on a new album after your album in 1999? Very good song!

I live in oslo, and as far as i know, nither you or lisa have played in norway/scandinavia. You have so many fans here. And now oslo have built a new fantastic opera, opening in april. You and lisa should come to play soon, very soon. http://www.operaen.no/. The acustic and sound retrival has got top score!! ;)

    Best regard from Kjetil.

  19. Victor

It’s great to hear that you are resurfacing after so many years in what appears to be artistic exile, even through the 2005 DCD tour. You are an amazing artist and I look forward to hearing your journey through music as all great artists do. We fans of you and of DCD hope that you may find a way to share more of yourself than you have been able to over the past 12 years since the first demise and support you in your personal and professional explorations in every aspect. As a musician myself who became disillusioned and refused to share my inner vision, I think I understand the silence; I revel in it myself at times.

  20. Martina O'Mealy

    Will you be touring anytime?

  21. Paul Valdez

    Brendan,
As time passes, I always seem to keep you in my thoughts. I always wonder to myself, “What kind of projects is he working on? I want to learn at Quivvy Church.” I may be a visiting a very good friend who resides in Co. Ofally. I look forward to hearing the rest of your new material. Based on the DCD MySpace page, it sounds wonderful, modern…
    Best wishes always,
    Paul

  22. David Calkins

I’m quite thrilled for the new album/material– especially after hearing “Utopia”. Thank you for all of the years of great music.

  23. Travis

OMG Utopia!!!!!! I freaking cannot wait!

  24. César Alejandro Brizuela Assuad.

Best Wishes Brendan, and come to Barcelona!!!

  25. Anne

    Hello! For Brendan Perry:
I wished to leave some personal comments. I have since signed in on MySpace which was a sort of “issue” due to my great need for privacy. However, I really wish to thank Sir Perry for Much Musical Joy & An Awfully Transcendant Voice. I experienced this in 1996 at the Lakewood Civic Theatre in the US(Oh. specifically).
Brendan if/when this becomes updated as you say: THANK YOU Very Much; It is a Pleasure Listening to it all- even “I Must Have Been Blind!!” ~Ah Anne(ne: Anya)XXXOOO *^*~~~

  26. Anne

    Hi,
I, personally, do not have a website of my own. I Do Love browsing the Fine Brendan Perry’s website. And - Slan to Ye as Well, Good Sir!!! Your voice is hypnotic! It’s mellow and commanding in a grand way(s).
I Love that pic. of you sitting next to Lisa G. with Tartan-like “Vestment”- ya know?! Nicely done; Stimulating! You always look intense, & perhaps you are, but never w/out Sense of Purpose or Expression(s). We All have come to Enjoy what you’re about. I esp. like the pic./lyrical tribute at Myspace to song, “American Girl.”
So, with this I bid You goodbye.

    SLAN forever! Brendan P.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Anne
    (Ah)

  27. Anne

ach! Never a Dull moment! I meant tribute to “Don’t Fade Away” tho’ I adore “American Girl” so Very Much, Brendan Perry
~Ms. Anne (Am excited to find a way to express this stuff!)

  28. Boris Zhekov

    Dear Brendan.

In my lyfe, there are two magor musical discoveries that did it for me. Those had an amazing impact on my soul, tastes and strivings and helped me to understand better the world, the universe and everything else through music.

The fisrt one is when I discovered Pink Floyd`s THE WALL and sold my soul to music.

The second is when I heard your voice, listened to your soulful compositions, enjoyed your poetry.

You are a most powerful artist with cosmic inspirations, you possess one of the most distinctive voices in the vocal history (though I like your renditions with The Scavengers too). I especially enjoy heavy baritones, but no one can go near your soulful delivery and thruthfulness.

For me, one of the most important things when listening to music is listening to Brendan Perry and i`m so glad that you`re gonna break the hiatus and start recording.

    Your fan,

    Boris

  29. Rainer Knappe

    Dear Brendan,

wonderful to listen to your new song…

    All the best

    Rainer

  30. Steve O'Sullivan

Brendan, I hope you are in good health and spirit. I am hoping you have a new album due soon whether it be your own solo work or a reunion with Lisa for a Dead Can Dance project. Sadly I’ve never witnessed you in concert but my practically worn out dvd of Toward The Within which I acquired with the ‘81-’98 boxset, offers me the opportunity to witness the sheer delight and grace of your live performances with DCD. Very best of luck and happiness to you and yours for the future… Steve.

  31. The Arcane Paradigm

Waiting for your music Brendan, thanks.

  32. ANDREW SZOKE

    Hello!
Dear Brendan! I’m very happy to see you work again. I’m waiting for your new material. I’m fanatic Dead Can Dance collector…I have all of your records (albums, side projects…etc.).
The setlist of the 2005’s tour of DCD was amazing. My favourite song is ‘Crescent’.
Is it yours? Brilliant! I would like to hear more beautiful songs like this.
    Best wishes: Andrew (from Hungary)

  33. Martin

    Finally. :)
I was wondering what’s going on with your work.
    I’ve missed you. :)
Will you make some European tour soon?
Also, will you and Lisa make a DCD tour again?
Sorry for being opened, but I can tank a lot to your music. ;)
    Regards,
    Martin from Croatia

Can’t wait to see your new site! By the way I’m a Wikipedia contributor, and I wrote articles about the Quivvy studio in the french and few lines in english (my english is poor!)… I’m wondering if you could send me one or 2 good pictures of the church inside and/or outside to put on Wikipedia, under GFDL licence (with parternity rights for sure!)

  45. Oene

    Hello Brendan,

It has been quite a while ago when we met each other in Zalen Schaaf Leeuwarden and a few days later in Vera Groningen, where you invited me backstage and it was just after the release of Spleen and Ideal.
I have followed your musical career through the years and your music has always been a great help and enjoyment for me.
I noticed somewhere on the internet that you are planning a new album in Summer this year and I look forward to it !!
I wish you all the luck and lots of succes with the renewed homepage !

    Best wishes Oene

  46. Gabor Kiss

    Gábor

  47. Joe Steduto

I’ve been looking forward to your new record since 5 mins after I heard your last solo work “eye of the hunter”. That was one of my top five for a couple of years running. I often used your record as an example of how society has rotten taste when someone like Mariah Carey becomes a record selling musician and yet, if you walk up to the average person on the street and ask them to name one of her hit songs, they wouldn’t know the answer…sorry for the rant! Your music works with a wonderful smooth groove feeling and your deep, warm voice that seems to envelop the listener. Looking forward to the New One.

    A Big Fan

  53. Fabien Rabatel

Hello Brendan, sorry about my english writing. I wish you the best for the next album(s). They should be as good as the last one, ‘Eye of the hunter’. Thank for all the things you did before with Lisa. You’re a music master.
    Best wishes.
    Fabien from Capbreton (France)

  54. Justin Sias

    Hello Brendan!

I’ve enjoyed your music for years and can’t tell you how excited I am that you’ll finally be putting out a second solo album. Your first was as good as anything you ever did with DCD in my opinion (though to be fair the earliest DCD recordings suffer from poor recordings). While I loved Lisa’s work to balance things out, it’s always been your almost otherworldly tracks that I’ve held dearest to my heart. I think they are some of the most beautiful things I’ve heard in my life - lyrically, musically, spiritually. Congratulations on the past and here’s looking forward to the future!

    Sláinte! (Guinness in hand.)

There is none other that I’d love to hear more music from than Brendan Perry. “Utopia” is beautiful!

  61. Kevin Larkin Angioli

    Dear Brendan,

Time and time and time again over the past decade, I have said to my friends, when do we get to hear again from the greatest voice we have? Where is Brendan Perry and what is he doing? Is he going to practice Zen and the Art of Archery past the need to create and add songs to the world? Is he going to go the way of J.D. Salinger? I hope not. For your voice, your music, has an effect on me and many others unlike any other in the world.

There are many times when no other music in the world will do. Crucial times and emotional times. Graduating, mourning a suddenly passed loved one, weeks in dark fugues, celebratory and sensual times, long drives through greyskied and branchwaving sacred landscapes, at home with candles and a good bottle of red wine open. Life’s greatest and saddest moments both, your voice is a guide.

I am feeling rejuvenated and grateful to hear that you have welcomed your responsibility to create like a long lost friend and are ready to reestablish laughter.

I am ecstatic that you are not to be driven insane by your distractions.

Since discovering Utopia two days ago, I have listened to it more than ten times. You are, indeed, back, and we are all the richer for it.

Whether what is to come is sexy, like The Ubiquitous Mr. Lovegrove, or revelatory, like The Captive Heart, or a mixture of both, I have faith that your new creations will be a much valued addition to the world. Let the walls of Quivvy ring!

    In humble respect and gratitude,
    Kevin Larkin Angioli

  62. Eric Burkhart

  65. Ivan B (4ad artist - wannabe)

    Hello Brendan!
    I’ve just found out that you have a new thing going on…G R E A T!!! I absolutely
A D O R E Eye of the Hunter; in fact I can sing&play the whole album, as well as a bunch of DCD songs…(which I did…’twas a sort of a concert I did for my parents in the stone hallway…just me and my classical guitar and your songs… :)ehm Yes, I’m a musician (ex classical guitarist born 1984 -It’ll End in Tears (I’m afraid)) and Dead Can Dance IS the reason i started recording music since 2002…My first DCD encounter was Spleen and Ideal in 2002…and W O W …The Dead Can Dance phenomenon: simple yet complex, in the end - MAGICAL…
    So…maybe one day we’ll be label-mates…ha? hmm
    Best wishes!!! Ivan from Croatia.

I doubt this is news to you, but I just wrote about Emily Bronte, (on my web site listed above), including a relation of “I am stretched on your grave” to motifs in her writing of Wuthering Heights. Also, included youtube of you singing this song. Also wrote about similarity in presense between singer Patti Smith and Emily Bronte.
    thanks

You are exceptional, and your voice stirs things within the very depths of my soul that I can’t even relate to you in words. Wondering if there’s a chance you will ever reunite to tour again with Lisa as Dead Can Dance? Sorry to inquire about that but it’s been on my mind, as I amongst many others fans, hold out hope. Perhaps foolish hope, but who knows. Anyways I love you for the music you have made and how it has rocked and enthralled my soul & spirit and a the same time spoke to it more fluently than possibly any other music could.

    Bonjour Brendan,

    Ciao Brendan,

You need less (or more! Depends on points of view :)) beer, and more dedication! :P

Seriously Brendan, you know how us, your fans, love you and your art, your works, we need more music! You can’t leave us alone all this time. Too much time has passed since the Eye of the Hunter, show some more love to our faithful fans, give us more of your essence, and once again, deliver us retribution and salvation at the same, still, living, breathing, delightful moment.

(I’m already enjoying some new bits on myspace, want more! want more! need more! Give us more! Can never get enough of you :))

Cheers from Siena (Tuscany, Italy). Come and be my guest if you want to taste some of the best italian wines out there! :)

    Hi Brendan,

Wouldn’t it be wonderful to see you on stage singing “speace weaver”. Your interpretation would be etherical and funny!

I hope we will hear darbuka and riq on the studio version of crescent (your best song) and not rhythm machines and noisy guitars :)

I found another version of crescent recorded when you were a bit sick … I definitely like the shedamadala … shedamadeee-ooooo-a !!!
